Insurance Coverage Limitations
Aetna covers chiropractic services that meet ALL of the following criteria:
- The member has a neuromusculoskeletal disorder.
- The medical necessity for treatment is clearly documented.
- Improvement is documented within the initial 2 weeks of chiropractic care.
Chiropractic treatment is not covered if no progress is noted during the first two weeks, unless the chiropractic treatment is modified.
Chiropractic treatment is not covered if no progress is seen in 30 days despite treatment modifications.
Continuing chiropractic care after the maximum therapeutic benefit has been achieved is also not covered.
